Additional requirements appear in the Animal Interaction Policy and Biosecurity Policy.

Pets and Service Animals

Personal pets are not permitted unless Big Cedars Farm has given advance written approval.

Service animals will be addressed in accordance with applicable law. Because livestock and other animals are present, visitors accompanied by service animals should contact us before arrival so we can discuss access, animal locations, and safety arrangements.

A service animal must remain under the handler’s control. Access to a particular animal area may be modified when necessary to prevent a direct threat to people or animals.

Drivers must:

  • interference with staff, animals, equipment, events, or other guests.

Weather and Environmental Conditions

Farm conditions can change quickly.

Visitors are responsible for monitoring weather, dressing appropriately, staying hydrated, using sun or insect protection when needed, and deciding whether participation is suitable for them.

Big Cedars Farm may close, restrict, relocate, modify, delay, or end an activity because of weather, animal needs, property conditions, staffing, safety concerns, or emergencies.

Removal From the Property

Big Cedars Farm may require a visitor to leave immediately for:

  • violating these policies;

  • disregarding staff directions;

  • endangering people or animals;

  • damaging property;

  • disruptive or unlawful behavior; or

  • interfering with farm operations.

Removal for a policy violation does not create a right to a refund.

2. ANIMAL INTERACTION POLICY

Nature of Animal Interactions

Big Cedars Farm is home to livestock, poultry, and other animals.

Animals are living beings with individual temperaments. Even calm, trained, familiar, or supervised animals may react suddenly and unpredictably.

Animals may:

  • kick;

  • bite;

  • peck;

  • scratch;

  • head-butt;

  • charge;

  • jump;

  • step on feet;

  • knock a person down;

  • pull away;

  • crowd a person;

  • move suddenly;

  • protect their young, food, territory, or herd;

  • transmit allergens, parasites, or disease; or

  • cause personal injury or property damage.

Participation in an animal interaction involves risks that cannot be completely eliminated.

Permission and Supervision

Visitors may interact with an animal only:

  • in a designated area;

  • during an authorized activity;

  • with staff permission; and

  • in accordance with staff instructions.

Permission to interact with one animal does not authorize interaction with any other animal.

Big Cedars Farm may end or modify an interaction at any time based on animal behavior, animal welfare, visitor behavior, weather, staffing, or safety conditions.

Required Conduct

During an animal interaction, visitors must:

  • remain calm;

  • approach only as directed;

  • use quiet voices;

  • avoid sudden movements;

  • keep fingers, hair, clothing, jewelry, phones, and personal belongings away from an animal’s mouth;

  • maintain the distance instructed by staff;

  • avoid standing directly behind an animal;

  • avoid kneeling or sitting where an animal could step on or knock them over;

  • follow feeding instructions;

  • wash or sanitize hands after contact; and

  • immediately report a bite, scratch, fall, or other incident.

Feeding

Visitors may feed animals only when:

  • feeding is part of an authorized activity;

  • feed has been supplied or approved by Big Cedars Farm; and

  • a staff member has explained the appropriate method.

Outside food and animal feed are prohibited unless approved in advance.

High-Risk Participants

A visitor should consult an appropriate professional before participating when the visitor:

  • is pregnant;

  • has a weakened immune system;

  • has severe allergies;

  • has a condition affecting balance or mobility;

  • is especially vulnerable to infection;

  • is unable to understand or follow instructions; or

  • has another condition that may increase the risks associated with animals or farm environments.

Big Cedars Farm does not provide medical advice or determine whether an activity is appropriate for a particular person.

Children and Animals

Children must be directly supervised by a parent or responsible adult.

Children may not:

  • enter an enclosure without authorization;

  • hold or carry an animal unless directed;

  • place fingers through fencing;

  • chase or corner an animal;

  • sit on an animal;

  • pick up eggs, chicks, or young animals without permission; or

  • feed an animal without staff supervision.

Clothing and Personal Items

Closed-toe shoes are strongly recommended and may be required for certain activities.

Loose clothing, dangling jewelry, food, bags, and other personal items may attract animals or become caught on fences or equipment.

Visitors are responsible for securing their belongings.

Injuries and Incidents

All injuries, bites, scratches, falls, damaged clothing, lost property, or unusual animal behavior must be reported to staff immediately.

Prompt reporting allows staff to provide available assistance, evaluate the animal, document the incident, and address any continuing safety concern.

Additional Agreement

Participation in certain animal encounters may require a separate acknowledgment, waiver, release, or parental consent form.

This policy does not replace any activity-specific agreement.

Prohibited Items

Do not bring the following onto the farm without advance approval:

  • feed;

  • hay;

  • straw;

  • bedding;

  • manure;

  • animal medications;

  • veterinary supplies;

  • used livestock equipment;

  • animal trailers;

  • crates or carriers;

  • buckets or grooming tools; or

  • live animals.

Restricted and Isolated Animals

Visitors may not:

  • enter quarantine, isolation, treatment, birthing, or restricted areas;

  • touch an animal marked or identified as restricted;

  • move between animal groups without permission;

  • handle sick or injured animals;

  • touch animal medications or treatment equipment; or

  • enter a pen after being told it is closed.

Hand Hygiene

Visitors should wash their hands thoroughly with soap and water after:

  • touching an animal;

  • touching fencing, bedding, feed containers, or animal equipment;

  • removing protective footwear;

  • visiting an animal area; and

  • before eating or drinking.

Hand sanitizer may be provided, but it is not always a substitute for washing with soap and water.

Food and drinks should not be consumed inside animal pens or handling areas.

Vehicles, Trailers, and Equipment

Animal buyers, transporters, veterinarians, vendors, and contractors may be required to:

  • arrive with a clean vehicle or trailer;

  • provide information about recent farm visits;

  • park in a designated area;

  • avoid unnecessary entry into animal zones;

  • clean and disinfect tires, footwear, tools, or equipment; and

  • follow a designated movement route.

Illness or Disease Concerns

Immediately notify Big Cedars Farm if, shortly after a visit:

  • an animal you own or handled is diagnosed with a contagious disease;

  • you learn that your clothing, equipment, vehicle, or footwear may have been exposed to a contagious animal disease; or

  • a public authority instructs you to notify recently visited farms.

Authority to Restrict Access

Big Cedars Farm may impose additional precautions, close animal areas, cancel visits, or restrict access without advance notice when necessary to protect animal health.

A biosecurity restriction is not a representation that disease is present. Preventive restrictions may be used whenever farm management determines they are appropriate.

4. EVENT, CANCELLATION, AND REFUND POLICIES

Scope

These policies apply to public events, ticketed events, private gatherings, workshops, celebrations, retreats, farm experiences, and similar activities booked directly with Big Cedars Farm.

Weddings, lodging, pool use, property rentals, and customized private events may require a separate written contract. When a specific contract or checkout term conflicts with this general policy, the specific contract or checkout term controls.

Reservations

A date, space, ticket, or service is not reserved until Big Cedars Farm has received:

  • all required information;

  • signed agreements or waivers;

  • the required deposit or payment; and

  • written confirmation of the reservation.

An inquiry, proposal, discussion, invoice, or tentative hold does not by itself create a confirmed reservation.

Deposits and Payments

The amount and due date of each deposit or payment will be stated during booking or in the applicable agreement.

Unless otherwise stated in writing:

  • deposits reserve time, space, staffing, and resources;

  • deposits are applied to the total price;

  • deposits are nonrefundable;

  • remaining balances must be paid by the stated deadline;

  • failure to pay on time may result in cancellation;

  • processing fees may be nonrefundable; and

  • additional services, overtime, repairs, excessive cleanup, or damages may be charged separately.

Guest Counts

The customer must provide an accurate guest count by the required deadline.

Big Cedars Farm may enforce capacity limits based on:

  • parking;

  • facilities;

  • staffing;

  • permits;

  • insurance;

  • safety;

  • accommodations;

  • sanitation; or

  • event design.

Guests beyond the confirmed count may be denied entry or may result in additional charges.

Weather

Events may proceed in rain, heat, cold, wind, or other ordinary weather conditions.

Customers and guests are responsible for dressing appropriately and preparing for outdoor conditions.

Big Cedars Farm may modify an event by:

  • moving activities to another available area;

  • changing the schedule;

  • reducing or removing an outdoor component;

  • changing animal participation;

  • delaying the start time; or

  • implementing safety restrictions.

Weather conditions do not automatically create a right to cancel, receive a refund, or reschedule.

Dangerous Conditions and Farm Cancellation

Big Cedars Farm may postpone, modify, relocate, or cancel an event when it determines that conditions create an unreasonable safety, animal-welfare, access, staffing, utility, or operational concern.

Examples include:

  • severe storms;

  • lightning;

  • flooding;

  • wildfire;

  • dangerous road conditions;

  • government orders;

  • utility failures;

  • property damage;

  • disease-control restrictions;

  • animal emergencies; or

  • conditions outside Big Cedars Farm’s reasonable control.

When Big Cedars Farm cancels an event entirely and cannot provide a reasonable replacement date or substantially similar service, the customer will receive the remedy stated in the applicable event listing or contract. That remedy may be a refund, partial refund, credit, or rescheduling opportunity.

Big Cedars Farm is not responsible for a guest’s travel, lodging, vendor, clothing, catering, rental, or other third-party expenses.

Customer Cancellation

Unless different terms are displayed during checkout or included in a contract, the following policy applies:

  • More than 30 days before the event: Payments made beyond the nonrefundable deposit may be refunded, less processing fees and nonrecoverable costs.

  • 15–30 days before the event: Fifty percent of payments made beyond the nonrefundable deposit may be refunded, less processing fees and nonrecoverable costs.

  • 14 days or fewer before the event: No refund.

  • Failure to attend: No refund.

  • Late arrival or early departure: No refund or price reduction.

For ticketed public events, tickets are nonrefundable unless the event listing expressly states otherwise.

The business must revise these time periods before publication if its actual cancellation rules differ.

Rescheduling

A rescheduling request is subject to:

  • availability;

  • advance notice;

  • the type of event;

  • vendor commitments;

  • seasonal pricing;

  • staff availability;

  • nonrecoverable expenses; and

  • any rescheduling fee stated in the agreement.

Approval of a rescheduling request is not guaranteed.

Payments may be transferred to a new date only when Big Cedars Farm confirms the change in writing.

Ticket Transfers

A public-event ticket may be transferred to another person only when:

  • the event listing permits transfers;

  • the transfer is requested before the stated deadline; and

  • the new participant completes any required registration or waiver.

Tickets may not be resold for more than their original purchase price.

Alcohol

Alcohol may be served or consumed only when:

  • expressly permitted by Big Cedars Farm;

  • allowed under the event agreement;

  • all required licenses, permits, insurance, and vendors are in place; and

  • applicable laws are followed.

Alcohol may not be served to:

  • anyone under the legal drinking age;

  • anyone who appears intoxicated; or

  • anyone unable to provide acceptable identification when requested.

Big Cedars Farm may stop alcohol service or require a guest to leave for unsafe or disruptive conduct.

No guest may drive while impaired.

Decorations and Setup

Decorations require advance approval.

Unless authorized in writing, the following are prohibited:

  • confetti;

  • glitter;

  • rice;

  • plastic flower petals;

  • balloons released outdoors;

  • nails;

  • screws;

  • staples;

  • permanent adhesives;

  • open flames;

  • fireworks;

  • Slime of any kind;

  • sky lanterns; and

  • decorations harmful to animals, land, buildings, or waterways.

All decorations and event property must be removed within the agreed period.

Music and Noise

Music and amplified sound must comply with:

  • the event agreement;

  • property rules;

  • local ordinances;

  • quiet hours; and

  • staff directions.

Big Cedars Farm may require volume reduction or end amplified sound when necessary.

Parking and Transportation

Guests must use designated parking and follow traffic directions.

The customer is responsible for communicating parking, shuttle, rideshare, and departure instructions to guests.

Vehicles may not block gates, farm roads, neighboring access, emergency routes, or animal areas and must be removed by 10 AM following an evening event.

Vendors

Outside vendors require advance approval.

The customer is responsible for ensuring that vendors:

  • comply with farm rules;

  • carry required licenses and insurance;

  • remain within approved areas and times;

  • protect the property;

  • remove equipment and waste;

  • follow alcohol, food, fire, electrical, and safety requirements; and

  • comply with applicable laws.

Big Cedars Farm may reject or remove a vendor that creates a safety, legal, insurance, animal-welfare, or property concern.

Cleanup

The customer and approved vendors must leave the event area in the condition required by the agreement.

Additional charges may apply for:

  • excessive trash;

  • abandoned decorations;

  • stains;

  • spills;

  • food waste;

  • unauthorized items;

  • damage;

  • failure to remove rented equipment; or

  • cleanup extending beyond the reserved period.

Conduct

The person making the reservation is responsible for communicating these policies to guests and vendors.

Big Cedars Farm may remove any person who:

  • threatens or harasses others;

  • mistreats animals;

  • enters restricted areas;

  • damages property;

  • disregards staff instructions;

  • possesses prohibited items;

  • becomes dangerously intoxicated;

  • interferes with farm operations; or

  • engages in unlawful or unsafe conduct.

Removal does not create a right to a refund.

Damage

The customer is financially responsible for damage caused by the customer, guests, children, vendors, contractors, or invitees, excluding ordinary wear and tear.

Charges may include repair, replacement, cleaning, animal care, lost business, professional services, and other reasonably documented costs.

Force Majeure

Big Cedars Farm is not responsible for delays, changes, or failure to perform caused by circumstances beyond its reasonable control.

The remedy available for such an event will be determined by the applicable contract, event listing, and payments that can reasonably be recovered.

5. PHOTOGRAPHY AND DRONE POLICY

Personal Photography

Guests may take photographs and short personal videos in public guest areas unless:

  • a sign prohibits photography;

  • staff instructs otherwise;

  • photography disrupts an activity;

  • another guest’s privacy is affected;

  • an animal’s welfare may be affected; or

  • the photography is commercial or professional in nature.

Photography does not authorize entry into restricted areas or contact with animals.

Respect for Other Guests

Do not photograph or record another guest in a way that is intrusive, disruptive, or misleading.

Parents and guardians control permission concerning identifiable photographs of their children.

Guests must comply when staff identifies an area, activity, or individual that should not be photographed.

Professional and Commercial Photography

Advance written permission is required for:

  • paid portrait sessions;

  • wedding or engagement photography not included in an event agreement;

  • commercial video;

  • advertising;

  • brand content;

  • product photography;

  • styled shoots;

  • editorial productions;

  • influencer campaigns involving compensation or free products;

  • extensive equipment or lighting;

  • photography requiring exclusive access; or

  • content intended for resale or commercial licensing.

Location fees, insurance, scheduling restrictions, releases, and a separate photography agreement may apply.

Animal Photography

Photographers and guests may not:

  • enter pens or enclosures without permission;

  • use food, sounds, props, flashes, or movements to provoke an animal;

  • place equipment where an animal may reach it;

  • separate an animal from its group;

  • pick up, pose, dress, restrain, or relocate an animal;

  • interfere with feeding, treatment, rest, birthing, or farm work; or

  • continue photographing after staff directs them to stop.

Animal welfare takes priority over obtaining a photograph.

Drone Operations

Drones may not be launched, landed, or operated from Big Cedars Farm property without advance written permission.

Permission is discretionary and may be withdrawn at any time.

Drones are prohibited:

  • above or immediately beside animal pens, barns, paddocks, coops, or pastures;

  • where noise or movement may frighten animals;

  • above crowds or nonparticipating guests unless the operation is legally authorized and approved;

  • near private residences or neighboring property;

  • during emergencies;

  • in restricted airspace;

  • in unsafe weather;

  • where the operation interferes with an event; or

  • when staff instructs the operator to stop.

An approved operator must:

  • comply with all FAA requirements and applicable laws;

  • hold all required registrations, certifications, and authorizations;

  • maintain appropriate insurance when requested;

  • keep the aircraft under control;

  • avoid careless or reckless operation;

  • protect guest privacy;

  • avoid animals, structures, vehicles, utilities, and neighboring property; and

  • provide requested flight details before operation.

Big Cedars Farm’s permission to use the property does not represent that a proposed flight is lawful. The operator is solely responsible for regulatory compliance.

Big Cedars Farm Photography

Big Cedars Farm may photograph or record general property views, animals, activities, and events for operational, historical, promotional, or social-media purposes.

We will make reasonable efforts to respect requests not to use an identifiable image of a guest.

A guest who does not wish to appear in promotional photography should:

  • notify Big Cedars Farm before the event when possible;

  • notify the photographer or event staff upon arrival; and

  • avoid clearly identified group-photo areas when practical.

A separate model release may be requested for featured, posed, testimonial, or commercial use.

Private-event contracts may contain different photography terms.

Ownership and Use

Guests retain ownership of photographs they lawfully create, subject to the rights of people, trademarks, copyrighted works, and private property shown in the images.

Permission to photograph at Big Cedars Farm does not grant permission to:

  • imply sponsorship or endorsement;

  • use the Big Cedars Farm name or logo commercially;

  • misrepresent an image;

  • sell access to the property;

  • license images for commercial use; or

  • use images in a defamatory, deceptive, unlawful, or harmful manner.

Written permission is required for commercial use of the Big Cedars Farm name, logo, branded materials, or property identity.

6. FRESH EGG POLICY

Availability

Fresh eggs are an agricultural product, and availability may vary based on:

  • season;

  • flock health;

  • weather;

  • daylight;

  • production levels;

  • demand;

  • collection schedules; and

  • animal-welfare needs.

Website listings, social-media posts, or previous availability do not guarantee that eggs will be available on a particular day.

Orders are confirmed only after Big Cedars Farm accepts the order.

Product Information

Eggs may naturally vary in:

  • size;

  • color;

  • shape;

  • shell texture;

  • yolk color; and

  • appearance.

Natural variation is not considered a defect.

Customers should inspect eggs promptly after receiving them and notify Big Cedars Farm immediately of visible breakage or another apparent problem.

Storage

Unless the packaging or applicable requirements state otherwise, customers should:

  • refrigerate eggs promptly;

  • keep eggs refrigerated at 40°F or below;

  • store eggs in a clean carton;

  • avoid unnecessary temperature changes;

  • keep eggs away from strong odors and raw meat;

  • discard cracked, leaking, visibly contaminated, or unusually odorous eggs; and

  • follow the use-by or packing information provided.

Do not wash eggs immediately before storage unless appropriate food-safety guidance specifically calls for it. Washing can remove the shell’s natural protective coating and may spread contamination if done incorrectly.

Handling

Wash hands, utensils, and food-contact surfaces before and after handling eggs.

Avoid cross-contamination between raw eggs and ready-to-eat foods.

Do not consume eggs with broken or leaking shells.

Cooking

Eggs are a raw agricultural food and may contain harmful microorganisms.

Customers should cook eggs thoroughly unless using an appropriately treated product for a recipe that will not be fully cooked.

People who are pregnant, elderly, very young, immunocompromised, or otherwise at increased risk of foodborne illness should seek appropriate medical or food-safety guidance before consuming raw or undercooked eggs.

Pickup and Delivery

Customers must collect eggs during the agreed pickup period.

Big Cedars Farm may cancel or modify pickup because of weather, animal needs, property access, or operational conditions.

After eggs are delivered or collected, the customer is responsible for proper transportation, temperature control, storage, handling, and preparation.

Returns and Refunds

Because eggs are perishable food products, returns are not accepted.

A request concerning damaged or unusable eggs must be made within [24 HOURS] of pickup or delivery and should include a description and photograph when practical.

Big Cedars Farm may provide replacement eggs, account credit, or a refund for verified problems at its discretion.

No replacement or refund is available for eggs that were improperly transported, stored, handled, or prepared after transfer to the customer.

Allergies and Dietary Decisions

Eggs are a major food allergen.

Customers are responsible for determining whether eggs are appropriate for themselves, household members, and guests.

Regulatory Information

Egg labeling, grading, refrigeration, handling, and sales practices will be managed according to the requirements applicable to Big Cedars Farm’s actual sales method.

Nothing in this policy represents that eggs have received a voluntary USDA grade unless the carton specifically displays an authorized grade or mark.

7. GOAT SALES TERMS

Scope

These terms apply to goat sales by Big Cedars Farm unless the buyer and Big Cedars Farm sign a separate bill of sale or purchase agreement.

When a signed agreement conflicts with these website terms, the signed agreement controls.

No Reservation Without Confirmation

A goat is not reserved until:

  • Big Cedars Farm approves the buyer;

  • the parties agree on the animal and price;

  • all requested buyer information is provided;

  • any required deposit is paid; and

  • Big Cedars Farm confirms the reservation in writing.

Messages, comments, verbal discussions, and social-media responses do not by themselves reserve an animal.

Deposits

Unless otherwise stated in writing:

  • deposits are nonrefundable;

  • deposits apply to the purchase price;

  • deposits may not be transferred to another animal without approval;

  • the remaining balance is due before the animal leaves the farm; and

  • failure to pay or collect the animal by the deadline may result in cancellation and loss of the deposit.

If Big Cedars Farm determines that the reserved animal cannot be sold because of illness, injury, death, a material health concern, or another reason attributable to Big Cedars Farm, the buyer may be offered:

  • a refund of the deposit;

  • transfer of the deposit to another available animal; or

  • another written arrangement.

Buyer Approval

Big Cedars Farm may request information about:

  • the buyer’s experience;

  • intended use of the goat;

  • fencing;

  • shelter;

  • herd companions;

  • transportation;

  • veterinary access;

  • local zoning; and

  • the buyer’s general care plan.

Big Cedars Farm may decline or cancel a sale before transfer when it determines that the proposed placement may be unsuitable or unsafe.

Health Disclosures

Big Cedars Farm will disclose known material health information concerning the animal to the best of its knowledge.

Records provided may include, when applicable:

  • birth date;

  • sex;

  • breed or breeding information;

  • identification;

  • vaccination history;

  • deworming history;

  • testing information;

  • treatment records;

  • registration documents;

  • reproductive history; and

  • known health conditions.

Veterinary tests and health certificates are snapshots in time and do not guarantee future health.

Unless expressly stated in a signed agreement, Big Cedars Farm does not guarantee:

  • future health;

  • growth;

  • temperament;

  • fertility;

  • breeding performance;

  • milk production;

  • show performance;

  • mature size;

  • color;

  • conformation;

  • compatibility with other animals; or

  • suitability for a particular purpose.

Prepurchase Examination

The buyer is encouraged to:

  • inspect the animal;

  • review available records;

  • ask questions;

  • consult a veterinarian;

  • arrange a prepurchase examination; and

  • request any desired testing before final payment and transfer.

Testing, examination, health-certificate, and veterinary costs requested by the buyer are the buyer’s responsibility unless otherwise agreed.

A buyer who declines an offered inspection or veterinary examination accepts the animal based on the information available at transfer, subject to any express written warranty.

Biosecurity

Buyers and transporters must follow the Big Cedars Farm Biosecurity

Policy. Vehicles, trailers, crates, footwear, and equipment may be inspected or required to be cleaned before entering animal areas.

Big Cedars Farm may refuse loading when transportation equipment is unsafe, unsanitary, overcrowded, or unsuitable.

Payment

Final payment must be made using an approved method before the animal leaves the farm.

The buyer is responsible for applicable taxes, registration costs, veterinary costs, testing, certificates, transportation, and other charges unless otherwise stated.

Payment reversals, chargebacks, dishonored checks, or fraudulent transactions do not transfer valid ownership.

Pickup and Transportation

The buyer is responsible for:

  • arranging transportation;

  • using an appropriate vehicle or livestock trailer;

  • providing suitable ventilation, space, bedding, restraint, and weather protection;

  • complying with animal-transport laws;

  • completing pickup by the agreed date; and

  • ensuring that the animal can be legally kept at its destination.

Big Cedars Farm may refuse to release an animal when transport conditions appear unsafe or inhumane.

Boarding or care charges may apply when pickup is delayed.

Transfer of Ownership and Risk of Loss

Unless a signed agreement states otherwise, ownership and risk of loss transfer to the buyer when:

  • full payment has cleared;

  • required documents have been completed; and

  • the animal has been loaded into the buyer’s or transporter’s vehicle.

After transfer, the buyer assumes responsibility for:

  • transportation;

  • injury;

  • illness;

  • escape;

  • theft;

  • death;

  • veterinary care;

  • quarantine;

  • feeding;

  • housing;

  • handling; and

  • compliance with applicable laws.

Quarantine After Purchase

Buyers should consult their veterinarian about an appropriate quarantine and herd-introduction plan.

A newly purchased goat should not be immediately introduced into an existing herd without appropriate disease-prevention procedures.

The buyer is responsible for monitoring the animal after transport and promptly obtaining veterinary attention for signs of illness, injury, stress, dehydration, or abnormal behavior.

Returns

Animals may not be returned without prior written authorization.

Because returning an animal can create health and biosecurity risks, Big Cedars Farm is not required to accept a return merely because:

  • the buyer changes their mind;

  • the animal does not fit the buyer’s herd;

  • the buyer’s property or zoning is unsuitable;

  • transportation is difficult;

  • the animal’s normal behavior is inconvenient;

  • the buyer did not obtain permission from another household member; or

  • the buyer can no longer care for the animal.

Any approved return may be subject to:

  • veterinary examination;

  • testing;

  • quarantine;

  • transportation requirements;

  • reduced refund or no refund;

  • boarding charges; and

  • biosecurity restrictions.

Material Health Issue Discovered After Transfer

A buyer claiming that a material health condition existed before transfer must:

  • notify Big Cedars Farm in writing within 5 days;

  • stop transferring or exposing the goat to other herds when appropriate;

  • obtain an examination from a licensed veterinarian;

  • provide complete veterinary findings and test results; and

  • follow reasonable instructions concerning evaluation of the claim.

No remedy is available for a condition caused or worsened by:

  • transportation;

  • improper feeding;

  • abrupt diet changes;

  • inadequate shelter;

  • unsafe fencing;

  • exposure to other animals;

  • failure to quarantine;

  • delayed veterinary care;

  • accidents;

  • parasites or pathogens acquired after transfer; or

  • care inconsistent with veterinary recommendations.

Any remedy will be limited to the express terms of the signed sale agreement.

Buyer Responsibilities

The buyer agrees to provide:

  • appropriate food and clean water;

  • secure fencing;

  • suitable shelter;

  • companionship appropriate for herd animals;

  • routine hoof care;

  • parasite-management planning;

  • prompt veterinary care;

  • protection from predators and weather;

  • lawful and humane treatment; and

  • compliance with local and state requirements.

The buyer is responsible for learning how to care for goats before purchase.

Breeding and Registration

Registration, pedigree, breeding rights, service-memo documentation, and transfer paperwork will be provided only when specifically included in the sale.

Big Cedars Farm does not guarantee that a registry will accept an application or that an animal will produce registerable offspring unless expressly stated in writing.

A goat sold without breeding rights may not be represented as breeding stock.

No Veterinary Relationship

Information provided by Big Cedars Farm about feeding, routine care, transport, or herd management is based on farm experience and does not constitute veterinary advice.

The buyer should establish a relationship with a licensed veterinarian.

Governing Terms

The sale is governed by:

  • the signed bill of sale or purchase agreement;

  • the animal’s orally disclosed records;

  • these Goat Sales Terms; and

  • applicable Virginia law.

No oral statement changes the sale terms unless confirmed in a written agreement signed by both parties.
